Online Course in Statistical Data Visualization by Dr. Galit Shmeuli

A friend and colleague, Dr. Galit Shmeuli, formerly of the University of Maryland and now Professor of Data Analytics and Associate Professor of Statistics and Information Systems at the Indian School of Business, told me today that there is still room in her online course at—Interactive Data Visualization—which will begin on Friday, October 28th. Galit uses my book Now You See It as the primary text for the course. Obviously, this biases me in favor of it, but Galit’s credentials in the field underscore its merits. Galit has authored or co-authored many practical books on statistical analysis, including Data Mining for Business Intelligence, Practical Time Series Forecasting, Practical Acceptance Sampling, Statistical Methods in e-Commerce Research, and Practical Risk Analysis for Project Planning. If you already have basic skills in statistics and want to enhance your skills in statistical data visualization, this just might be the course for you.

Take care,

This is exciting news, congratulations, Stephen!

I read Information Dashboard Design, Show Me The Numbers, and Now You See It in that order.

In a fun coincidence, I came to your site today intending on asking, on your forum, if any college or MBA courses were using your texts yet. Glad to hear of this one.

Are there any other courses that use this or other texts?

Several university courses use my books, but I don’t keep track of them. Because my books address the needs of a cross-disciplinary audience, they’re used in various departments, including computer science, business, statistics, marketing, and information sciences.
