In this advanced data exploration and analysis course, Stephen Few takes participants beyond the basic skills that are taught in his books Show Me the Numbers and Now You See It to the next level of statistical and data visualization skills that are required for signal detection. Only the signals matter.

All attendees will receive a copy of the book Signal: Understanding What Matters in a World of Noise.

Group Registrations

Groups of two or more people may be eligible for discounts. Group registrations can be made online or by calling us directly at (916) 941-9244. Payments for groups may be made by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or purchase order.

Discounts

The following group discounts will be applied to your registration fee, based on the number of people your group sends:

2 to 4	10%
5 to 10	15%

We ask that no more than 10 people from an organization register for the course. This is to ensure that as many organizations as possible are able to attend and to make sure that a single organization doesn't dominate the workshop.

Full-time students and non-profit organizations may receive an additional 25% discount (applied to total, after any group discounts).

Location

The workshop will be held at the David Brower Center, located at 2150 Allston Way in Berkeley, California. Directions are available on their website.

Lodging

Lodging must be arranged directly with a hotel. For your convenience, a limited number of rooms are available at the nearby Hotel Shattuck Plaza for a discounted group rate of $179 per night, plus taxes and fees. To get the reduced rate, you can make your reservation online or by calling (510) 845-7300 and telling them that you are part of the Perceptual Edge group.

Parking

There are several parking garages in close proximity to the David Brower Center and the Hotel Shattuck Plaza. If you're driving to the David Brower Center, the closest garage is located at 2165 Kittredge Street. If you're driving to the Hotel Shattuck Plaza, the closest parking garage is located at 2061 Allston Way. The current rate for both garages is $17 per day and both allow overnight parking.

Food

Lunch will be provided each day and will include sandwiches, salad, dessert, and beverages. Refreshments will be provided in the morning and afternoon.

Time

Each day is scheduled from 9am to 5pm with a one hour break for lunch. Registration check-in will begin at 8:30am every day.

Materials

When you check in you will be given a badge and an information packet.
